Golden eagles fly over Kent
The above headline featured in the Kent Messenger of Nov' 16th 1940, the report stating: 'Golden eagles have been spotted flying over Kent recently by the Observer Corps. They came in from Dover. It is to be hoped that these birds will not be shot down. A few years ago a fine specimen of a white-tailed eagle flew over Dover, only to be brought down by a man with a gun/ He was heavily fined.'
